It was an old magazine. I didn't touch much of anything in there because there was so much water damage and mold everywhere. Oh yeah, I can definitely see a resemblance. haha! I didn't stumbe across any dead bodies, thankfully!
Wow. This has a bit of gloom to it here. Like disaster struck in the middle of a casual evening, and no one has been back since. Natural disaster comes to mind, but when you let the mind wander any sort of thing comes up: police raid, serial killer, sudden illness, all manner of things.
This is from a hotel (I have posted exterior shots on here before) I finally got in and it was in terrible shape. So much to see. It literally did look as though it was a regular work day and someone just came in and said "pack it up this place is shutting down". There were dishes everywhere, and bed sheets still in the washer and dryer, beds, end tables, lamps, desks, chairs still in the rooms. It was pretty neat. I wish I could go back. It definitely had that kind of a vibe to it where if someone had told me it was a raid, serial killer, illness etc., I would NOT have been surprised. haha. It was pretty neat because I had found a picture in one of the offices of the pool area back when the hotel was still in operation. It was quite a difference. lol
That's awesome. Hey a friend of mine - rustydarko.deviantart.com/ - does a great job with abandoned photography, but something you said reminded me of something he did. He managed to find some postcards & old visuals of some of the places he visited, and then put the before & after together in one image. (In some cases he even melded them into one image; transitioning from old photo to new in 1 image). I'm not that fancy, but if you managed to get an image of the "before" it might look pretty badass to put it next the the after shot that you took when you visited.
Just a thought. If I manage to find some old images of the places I've visited; I may give that a try myself
I should try and find some photos of before. I didn't get to explore anywhere near the whole building. I really wanted to. But that is a really cool idea. I may have to try and do that with some of my other explorations. Or for the ones that are undergoing renovation, do an "abandoned to in use" set maybe. I'll figure something fancy out. haha. I still want to go to Tome school one of these days if I ever get the time and the nerve to explore somewhere that big and out in the open. haha.
